Our Vintage Machines

Andrew Bunton has an interest in restoring vintage machines. With himself and a team of mechanics, fabricators and painters Bunton’s has restored many models of machines including a JCB 1 Gravedigger, JCB 2B, JCB 3C, JCB 3C Powertrain, JCB 3CX, JCB110, Massey Ferguson 50HX and some ongoing projects are a JCB Mark 1 Excavator Major Loader and recently we have acquired a JCB 806B excavator for the latest project.

Once the machines are restored they are displayed in our yard near the offices and car park areas, and occasionally they may make an appearance at vintage enthusiast shows.

JCB 1 - 'Gravedigger'

Discovered by a National Trust Warden, hidden inside an enormous bramble patch the machine took over a day to extract.

The serial number indicates to us that this machine was the 7th machine of the production line and the 1st unit to be sold. JCB have confirmed this in writing to us and indicated that the first 5 built were prototypes, the sixth was kept by JCB and is on display in their museum and therefore that our machine was the first unit ever sold.

Serial Number: 717163

JCB 110

Purchased from a working tip in full working order this machine was far ahead of its time.

The 18th of 197 units ever made this machine only required restoration work to the bucket and a new paint job for full completion.

This restored machine now takes pride of place in our yard entrance way.

Serial Number: 80018

JCB 3C

This JCB 3C has been restored  to full working order however we haven’t re-done the paint work as currently this machine operates in a 100% original state. It may be re-painted in the future.

JCB 3C Powertrain restored to excellent working condition with the use of a donor machine for a number of original parts.

JCB 3CX Sitemaster
