Vintage Plant – JCB 1 ‘Gravedigger’

  • Serial no.: 717163.

Discovered by a National Trust Warden, hidden inside an enormous bramble patch the machine took over a day to extract.

The serial number indicates to us that this machine was the 7th machine of the production line and the 1st unit to be sold. JCB have confirmed this in writing to us and indicated that the first 5 built were prototypes, the sixth was kept by JCB and is on display in their museum and therefore that our machine was the first unit ever sold

The machine is currently undergoing restoration and so far the engine has been completely overhauled, the brakes and tyres been refurbished and it now drives around under its own steam.

It is currently waiting for time to permit and a last push to completion.
