We recognise all current and relevant health and safety regulations. We ensure that our business activities adhere to our environmental policy, and that we strive to maintain a safe working environment at all times. We are members of safety associations including CHAS, CPA, CITB, Streetworks, Construction Line, Builders Profile and ISO 9001. We employ an external health and safety consultant as well as in-house health and safety representatives who monitor site safety, documentation and day to day routine machine checks.
We have been an ISO 9001 certified company since 2018.
Health and Safety documentation and policies can be viewed upon request as we have full archives of documents, both in hard copy and electronically.
Modern slavery encompasses slavery, forced and compulsory labour, and human trafficking whereby individuals are deprived of their freedom and are exploited for commercial or personal gain as enacted in the Modern Slavery Act 2015 (‘the Act’). The company is committed to a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and to acting with integrity in all its dealings, relationships, and supply chains. It expects the same high standards from all its staff, suppliers, contractors, and those with whom it does business. This policy applies to all employees, workers, consultants, and other persons doing business with the company.
The company acknowledges the risk that a supply chain may involve the use of a hidden or unknown subcontractor reliant on forced labour. Although the company considers the risk of modern slavery to be low due to the nature of its supply chains, it takes its responsibilities to combat modern slavery seriously.
We believe the higher the quality and specification of the machine, the lower the risk of health and safety hazards occurring. Our fleet is bought from only the best manufacturers utilizing advanced factory fitted technology, and clever designs such as zero tail-swing excavators which reduces crush risk.
All of our plant and equipment are hired out complete with a health and safety information pack and health and safety awareness stickers. Our wagons contain health and safety files, which contain generic risk assessments and method statements, as well as a copy of our waste carriers licence and tipping facilities certificates. In addition our low-loaders carry charts of all plant transport dimensions and operating weights, plus our annual dispensation and movement orders.
We regard fleet maintenance very highly therefore we have implemented a 3 stage process which includes; driver’s daily inspection / defect sheets, off-hire inspection sheets, and 12 monthly inspections for every machine and vehicle in our fleet.
The majority of our large tracked and wheeled excavators are fitted with the Hill Tefra fully automatic double locking quick hitch, making it the safest coupler available on the market. This is mainly due to its integral primary and secondary safety system which eliminates the most dangerous aspect of handling attachments – the risk of attachments coming away completely. The Hill Tefra solves this by using a positive locking system rather than a gravity locking system, making the crucial safety feature ‘active’ and not ‘passive’ in the way in which it works.
